I did a little post on Chelsea’s potential focus areas in the summer the other day, highlighting what areas of the team I feel need serious attention over the summer, and how urgently the business should be done. Now, I feel it’s fitting to also talk about possible moves out of the Bridge in the coming weeks, because believe it or not, it will happen.

In Conte’s first season, we saw changes in the way things happened. Players who played more before his arrival played a lot lesser. Knowing that football is a game of regular action, the departure of affected players is almost inevitable. So who’s likely to leave Chelsea this summer?

Kourt Zouma was an important piece in 2015/16 before injury struck. His lengthy lay-off meant replacement, and even though he’s since recovered, getting back in the team has been impossible, especially considering the form of Gary Cahill and the rest of the defensive players. He’s still young, so he’ll definitely be looking to leave, even if it’s just on loan. Whether or not Conte will allow it is something we’ll find out soon.

Another player that has struggled at Chelsea these past months is Brazilian, Kenedy. Since his arrival a few seasons ago, he’s not really lived up to the billing. His game time hit an abysmal low under Conte’s first season as he failed in his first loan spell at Watford. It’s hard to see him stay beyond the current campaign, and a loan move is not even an option the way I see it.

John Terry is definitely leaving, with his current contract expiring, and age not on his side. He’ll most likely be going abroad though, because I don’t see his loyalty for Chelsea allowing him play for another club in England.

Cesc Fabregas is another potentially departing player this summer. He’s fallen down the pecking order in recent months. Kante and Matic have built a formidable partnership, so that makes it difficult for the Spaniard to break into the first eleven. He made a few starts towards the end of the season, and in some high profile matches. He is also perhaps the most creative player in the league. He’ll be a big loss and a massive addition to any team. I doubt Chelsea are ready to lose him though.

Michy Batshuayi experienced somewhat of a resurgence towards the end of last season, and most of us were happy for it because he’s a really good player. However, with Costa still at Chelsea, I doubt he’ll stay put. Unless the former leaves, I see him going on loan, at least.

Diego Costa has been rumored to favor a move away over the past couple of seasons. He has been linked with Atletico and China, but you can throw Inter in the mix as well, with their recent acquisition by a mega- rich company. Atletico has had its transfer ban upheld, so China and Inter are his likely destinations, but seeing as he’s not openly admitted to wanting to leave, we cannot really say much about this move for now. Besides, it’s hard to see Conte wanting to part with his top striker.

And those are the players I feel might be headed for the exit at Chelsea this summer. The likelihood is there for everyone of them, but I am near certain Zouma, Kennedy, Bats and Terry are leaving either on loans or permanent deals.
