Chelsea have been strongly linked with Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, and it’s believed that the 24-year-old will end up in Chelsea this summer after the Blues missed out on signing him last summer.
However, there’s a huge debate among football fans on how the former Chelsea prodigy will fare at Stamford.
Not everyone believes Lukaku can shine at the big stage and former Liverpool player Steve Nicol believes the Belgium forward wouldn’t fit Chelsea’s style of play.
“Lukaku for me doesn’t fit into a team that predominantly spends most of the time in and around the opposition’s box, he’s a guy that needs space in my opinion,” Nicol said on ESPN FC.
“If you look at Chelsea last year, one of the things I loved watching was Costa and (Eden) Hazard together, playing little one-twos and playing with each other in a small space.
“Lukaku can’t do that so if they do get Lukaku, that would change a lot for me the way Chelsea attack.”
Chelsea sold Lukaku in 2014 to Everton for just £28m and reports claim Chelsea are willing to spend £80m on the former Blues striker.
Lukaku finished second in the Golden Boot race in the concluded season behind Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.
