Spanish football expert and former Northern Ireland star Gerry Armstrong has hailed Alvaro Morata as a classic number 9 who scores all types of goals.
“I have watched Morata develop over the past few years with Madrid,” Armstrong told The Sun.
“And Chelsea have acquired a very talented individual in the shape of the 24-year-old Spain international.
“For those who haven’t seen him play in La Liga, Morata’s style is similar to the classic No.9 British-style centre forward.
“He has great strength in the air, unbelievable pace, and is very sharp in the box.
“He scores all types of different goals: tap-ins, long range shots, and has this knack of being in the right place at the right time.
“I have seen him score plenty of goals with his head at the far post. Or smash them in on volleys from the edge of the box.
“He is an excellent finisher. All he needs is the time to mature. As well as the chance to play a full season.”
