After a successful two-year loan spell with Vitesse Arnhem, Lewis Baker was part of the Chelsea team on pre-season, as the young midfielder tries to break into the Chelsea team.
The 22-year-old came on as a substitute against Arsenal and Bayern Munich in our earlier matches on the Tour of the Champions, but didn’t feature in the last game against Inter Milan.
Speaking about the pre-season, the England Under-21 international said: “It’s been a good couple of weeks for us in Asia. A couple of disappointing results but pre-season is really about getting our fitness levels up and coming together as a team.
“The training has been tough especially in the heat but it’s been good for us and we should be ready for the Community Shield now.”
After beating the Gunners in Beijing, Baker and his teammates had to jet out to Singapore and the 22-year-old has admitted that he enjoyed the experience despite the distance.
“It’s a long way to travel but I really enjoyed spending a week in Singapore,” he said. “It’s a nice place, the facilities are good and we’ve been treated very well.”
