Chelsea winger Pedro had to be substituted in the first-half of Chelsea’s 3-0 demolition of Arsenal in a preseason friendly in Beijing on Saturday after a collision with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina.
Pedro spent the night in a hospital in Beijing and had to be flown to London for further review.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has now revealed Pedro’s injury is more serious than initially thought. According to Conte, Pedro suffered multiple fractures to his face after the collision with Ospina.
“The situation was more serious than I thought because I hoped it would only be concussion and instead he had multiple fractures,” Conte said.
“With a mask, and in around 10 days, he can come back to work with us.”
