Chelsea young defender Matt Miazga would join Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for the second successive season after helping Vitesse win the Dutch Cup last season.

The 22-year-old American international, a member of their squad that lifted the Gold Cup this summer, becomes the 17th player to leave Chelsea on loan this summer.

“I felt very welcome and we have all made historic success,” Miazga said after completing his loan move to Vitesse.

“That success will be expanded this coming season and I will continue to develop myself.

“That’s why I returned as soon as possible after winning the Gold Cup. We are going to compete for the second prize in the club’s history.”

Vitesse’s technical director Mo Allach added: “We would like Matt to have another year in our selection and in this way we also double the positions in the defence.

“The fact that he chose for us again and wanted to connect directly after the Gold Cup has his mentality.”
