Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has stressed the need for patience as he imposes his idea of football on Chelsea’s new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Monaco this summer, failed to join the squad for Chelsea’s preseason tour of Asia because he is recovering from a surgery he had to undergo at the end of last season.
“For me it is very important for the players to understand my idea of football,” said Conte.
“Bakayoko, at the moment, he doesn’t know anything about my idea of football.
“For sure, he needs a bit of time to adapt and understand.
“This is the great difficulty for a coach that has an idea of football and wants to give an identity.
“When you sign a player you need a bit of time to bring the player into your idea.
“It is the same now for Alvaro Morata and for Antonio Rudiger. For sure, if the player arrives as soon as possible, it is easy for me.”
