Eden Hazard failed to join the squad for Chelsea’s preseason tour of Asia with the Belgian staying behind at Cobham to continue his recovery from an ankle injury.

“It is difficult to say when he (Eden Hazard) will be back,” said Conte.

“After a bad injury, after ankle surgery, it is not easy to programme the date to come back.”

Tiemoue Bakayoko is another player not involved in Chelsea’s preseason tour of Asia. He stayed behind at Cobham to continue his recovery from keyhole knee surgery he had to undergo at the end of last season.

“We hope for them (Hazard and Bakayoko) to recover very well,” added Conte. “You know the importance of these players but we will not rush them back.

“Every player must be in the best form to play otherwise they are put in a bad position which could be damaging for the team.”
