Chelsea left utility player Kenedy was sent home from pre-season tour after some embarrassing comments on social media that has put the club in bad light.
The 21-year-old posted a number derogatory and even racist comments on social media that outraged many in China, including “f***ing China” and “wake up China you idiot”, in reference to a sleeping security guard, on his Instagram.
Kenedy and the club apologised to China for the upset that it caused, however he was then sent home today as part of the punishment over the comments that he made while the team were all in Beijing.
Conte has now spoken for the first time about the incident. Speaking after the 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in Singapore, Conte said: “Unfortunately, it happened this situation. Because we all know it is a pity. The player was sorry about this situation. It is a difficult situation, also for the club. For this reason we make this decision for the player.
“The player understood his mistake, he is sorry for what happened. Now he must go home.”
