After a slow start to the transfer window, Chelsea now seem to have made one of the strongest moves in the transfer market in the Premier League, but there are still more signings to be made.
Antonio Conte has identified the need to strengthen the wing-back positions as Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses cannot play another season without competition or backup, in a role that zaps so much energy.
According to a report by The Sun, the Premier League champions are interested in Barca player Sergi Roberto and will force Barca to sell the talented 25-year-old by matching the £37.5 million release fee in his current contract.
The Spain international can play in midfield and defence and would offer cover across several positions and roles, including the right wing-back position.
Another is Ryan Bertrand. With Alex Sandro’s deal taking a bad twist, the Chelsea academy product could be Chelsea’s next option in the left wing-back role.
Now 27, Bertrand has reached maturity as a player and is arguably one of the best left-backs in the Premier League at the moment. Blessed with pace and energy, he would provide a different brand of football from Alonso and with Chelsea having a long season ahead, they can both help the Blues to glory.
