Chelsea have been linked with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well as Alvaro Morata and Andrea Belotti.

The Blues are in the market for a new striker and football expert Gabriele Marcotti believes Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will favour a move for Morata or Belotti over Aubameyang.

Aubameyang posted a cryptic Instagram post yesterday of him sitting on the stairs of the plane, wearing a blue jacket and shoes, with the caption: “#moodoftheday”. Marcotti believes the snap resembles that of Paul Pogba before his record-breaking move to Manchester United.

“This is almost a homage to Paul Pogba last summer, those pictures of him on Instagram where it was in black and white but he was wearing the red high-tops and I think the red hat,” Marcotti said on ESPN FC.

“This is a situation that has become spiralling out of control for Borussia Dortmund.

“Aubameyang’s people have been basically pitching him everywhere.

“There are supposedly offers in China, he is willing to take them but frankly, given that their transfer window is going to be shut very, very soon, I don’t think that’s going to happen.

“I would imagine he would much rather stay in Europe, there has been suggestions of AC Milan as well, I think they would really struggle to come up with the money.

“Maybe this is a way to maybe prod PSG back into action. If you put two and two together you say Chelsea, but frankly I think from Conte’s perspective, he would not be an ideal fit.

“Would he make it work with Aubameyang? Of course he could.

Marcotti believes Morata and Belotti would be Conte’s priority over Aubameyang.

He added: “But I still think Conte’s priority at this stage would be somebody like Morata, or possibly if they can get the price down, Andrea Belotti.”
