Chelsea were very effective in the title race last season as the Blues won a record 30 games to end up as champions.

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has told his teammates that they must learn from champions Chelsea if they are to win the Premier League this season.

“We know we must read the games better. You don’t always have to win beautiful,” he said.

“Chelsea is a good example. Last season, they were the best team. They knew what they had to do. That’s what we needed to do. We must make sure we learn from the past and do it this season.

“I won’t say we can immediately win the title, but I think we have a squad that can compete for it.

“A lot of people said that when a team parks the bus, we don’t have a lot of solutions. We worked on it in training, when one team was parking the bus, the other team was still finding solutions. If you have confidence, then you will find solutions, even if a team drops really deep.”

Indeed, Chelsea were excellent last season on the road to the trophy, that even teams that chose to park the bus went home with a scattered bus, with the likes of Pedro, Willian, Hazard and Diego Costa chief culprits.
