John Terry was at Chelsea for 22 years and wore the captain armband for 13 of those years but has now left the club to join Championship side Aston Villa.

On joining Villa, the Chelsea legend has been given the captain role at the Villa Park and Luiz has admitted that Terry isn’t a captain because of just the armband but his personality as well.

Luiz said: “John was a leader. He was not just the guy with the armband. He was a leader and a great guy, especially last season which was a different season for his career because he didn’t play a lot. He was still great with the team, trying to help and to be together.

“I give my words for him because he deserves it: top class, top level and he was doing what he loved to do, be a leader, no matter if he was playing or not. He is a leader because he has this in his personality and he did it.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
