Chelsea were heavy favourites to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton this summer, but Manchester United have hijacked the deal just after pulling out of the race to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

United have had a bid of £75 million accepted for the 24-year-old Everton striker and this has dealt a huge blow to Chelsea in the transfer market.

Manchester United legend Phil Neville has posted a photo of Lukaku in a Manchester United jersey on his instagram page.

A photo of the Belgian striker in a United shirt appeared on Phil Neville’s official Instagram page with the caption “Left one great club and joined another @rlukaku9 congratulations”.

The photo looks a bit odd as Lukaku’s head seem to be photoshopped on to Paul Pogba’s body.

But the message from Phil Neville is clear: Manchester United have beaten Chelsea to the big man Romelu Lukaku. Now, it’s over to Antonio Conte and the Chelsea board as scenes of two seasons ago play afresh in the memories of the fans.
