Fernando Torres was the most expensive Spaniard ever after joining Chelsea for £50million in January 2011, and now his countryman Alvaro Morata will now become the most expensive Chelsea signing and the most expensive Spanish player as well.
AC Milan tried to sign the 24-year-old but he preferred a move to Chelsea after speaking with former Blue Fernando Torres.
The 33-year-old striker, who is currently back with his boyhood club Atletico Madrid, has offered to help Morata learn from his own experience at Chelsea.
“I have spoken with Fernando, who has told me he’ll give me a hand with whatever I need,” Morata told Spanish outlet AS.
“I have been training hard for whatever outcome, but I was clear that this was my objective. It’s sad to leave Real Madrid, but I hope that everything will go well for me at Chelsea.”
Torres struggled to live up to his transfer fee during his spell in west London, scoring just 20 times in 110 Premier League appearances. And he has now offered to help Morata to become a star at Chelsea.
