Chelsea are in the market for a new striker with Diego Costa bound to leave this summer.
Chelsea were keen on Romelu Lukaku, but Manchester United beat Chelsea to the signing of the towering Belgium striker.
Chelsea are now opting for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, but pundit Shaka Hislop believes a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be a better deal for Chelsea.
“Aubameyang,” former West Ham goalkeeper Hislop said on ESPN FC when asked who he would prefer between the two frontmen.
“I just feel he offers more in terms of his change in pace, in terms of how well he leads the line.
“I’m not sure Morata has got that full skill set.”
Hislop’s colleague Alejandro Moreno disagrees and thinks Morata being four years younger than Aubameyang should come into consideration for Chelsea, but admits either of the players would be a gamble.
“To me I would take Morata, simply because I like him better as a player, because of the age factor, because I think Morata is very much coming into his prime and he’s going to be a productive player for years to come,” the former Venezuela international said on the Real Madrid forward.
“Aubameyang, I’m not sure that whether his best years are behind him.
“I don’t know whether he’s going to have that same productivity.
“It’s a gamble either way, I would take Morata.”
