Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero as the 35-year-old signed a one-year contract with Chelsea, as his deal with City expired at the end of last season.
Caballero said: “I am very happy to join Chelsea, the champions of England. I am looking forward to meeting the guys and helping the club achieve more success in the coming season.”
Michael Emenalo said of the signing: “We are very happy to have Willy on board. He knows the Premier League and is tried and tested at the top of the game.
“We have three experienced goalkeepers and we look forward to welcoming him to the club when the squad returns to pre-season training.”
Caballero has since completed the move to join Chelsea after his contract with Manchester City expired, but the Blues weren’t keen on unveiling the 35-year-old until the Nike deal began.
The signing is Chelsea’s first of this transfer window.
