Nemanja Matic has completed a permanent move to Manchester United, Chelsea have confirmed.
The Serbian seemed destined to leave Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford as Chelsea bought Tiemoue Bakayako from Monaco and the 28-year-old didn’t join the team in pre-season.

Matic had two stints as a Chelsea player. In his first period at the club, in 2009/10, he made three substitute appearances in a championship-winning season. He moved to Benfica in January 2011 as part of the deal which brought David Luiz to Stamford Bridge.
And in his second stint, he won two Premier League titles and one League Cup.
It was Jose Mourinho who brought Matic to Chelsea and the pair will now reunite at Manchester United.
Matic has thanked Chelsea fans while also revealing he had a good time at the club. He said: “I am delighted to have joined Manchester United. To work with José Mourinho once again was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.
“I have enjoyed my time at Chelsea and would like to thank the club and the fans for their support. I cannot wait to meet my new team-mates and to start training with them. This is a very exciting time for the club and I am looking forward to playing my part in creating more history for this great club.”
