Manchester United confirmed this morning (Saturday) that they have agreed a fee with Everton for the signing of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.
The 24-year-old striker had been constantly linked with a return to Chelsea all summer but Chelsea’s reluctance to agree a fee with Everton gave Manchester United the opportunity to hijack our deal for the striker.
According to a report by The Times, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte feels betrayed by Lukaku’s decision to opt for a move to Manchester United instead of joining Chelsea.
The report claims Conte spoke with the striker several times since the end of the season and is reportedly laying the blame on the collapse of the move at the feet of the striker, as well as his agent, Mino Raiola, who was commanding a high fee which Chelsea were unwilling to match.
Chelsea have now reportedly turned attention to Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
Chelsea will resume preseason on Monday.
