French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain are trying to disrupt Chelsea’s bid for Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko by submitting a £45 million bid for his teammate Fabinho according to Daily Mail.
The report claims Monaco are prepared to consider the option of selling Fabinho instead but Monaco are reportedly not keen to sell to rivals PSG.
Spanish side Atletico Madrid have also submitted a £40 million bid for Fabinho with the midfielder joining in January.
Bakayoko and Fabinho were the key central midfielders for Monaco last season and it is believed the French side might be unwilling to sell both midfielders in the same transfer window.
Chelsea are confident of sealing the transfer of Bakayoko despite interest in his teammate. Despite various reports claiming Manchester United want to hijack Chelsea’s deal for Bakayoko, the 22-year-old midfielder favours a move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are reportedly yet to agree a fee for Bakayoko with Monaco with Daily Mail claiming Chelsea’s offer remains just £3 million short of the asking price of £40 million. Bakayoko’s knee injury is believed to have delayed the transfer as the midfielder is still recovering from a surgery he had at the end of last season.
