Chelsea were in a pole position to sign 24-year-old Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and had worked on a deal for most of the summer but Manchester United have now hijacked Chelsea’s deal for the Belgian striker with Manchester United announcing this morning that they have agreed a fee with Everton.
According to reliable Sky Sports reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have now made contact with the representatives of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata and want to get a deal done.
Lukaku was Chelsea’s number one target for the striking position but it seems we would have to settle for Morata, who reportedly wants to quit Real Madrid this summer after failing to play regular first team football at Real Madrid.
According to Di Marzio, Chelsea are now focused on signing Morata from Real Madrid.
Chelsea’s approach in the transfer market this summer has been shockingly poor with many fans expressing their displeasure at our slow pace in the transfer market.
