In the time of Frank Lampard and co, Chelsea had so many quality free-kick takers, from Didier Drogba to Michael Ballack, Michael Essien and even Alex. There were countless players with good set-piece abilities.
However, this current Chelsea team isn’t as blessed as the class of 2004-2008 with free-kick takers. Marcos Alonso, Willian and David Luiz are the three designated free-kick takers with Cesc Fabregas chipping in sometimes.
New Chelsea signing Antonio Rudiger has now teased Chelsea fans with his free-kick abilities and has showed the likes of Alonso and Luiz that the Blues have a new free-kick taker.
He shared a clip of himself playing a delightful free-kick on Instagram after completing his move to Chelsea.
The defender said about his move to Chelsea: “It’s a great feeling because not every player has the opportunity to join a huge club like this.
“I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and I’m very proud to officially become a Chelsea player.”
