With 2 games gone in our preseason fixtures, I’d say we’re doing well. It’s been so far, so good for Chelsea, and I honestly, didn’t exactly expect it to happen, even without our latest additions appearing in any of the fixtures (with the exception of Caballero). I know it’s a little ‘too negative’ coming from a fan, but then, you can’t exactly blame me for thinking the way I did after what happened 2 seasons ago. We finished well prior to 2015/16, but then, it eventually ended awfully, contrary to expectations. So you can excuse me for not being so positive this time.
However, it does seem like things will not be taking that road in the forthcoming season, if the early signs are anything to go by. We have played 2 matches thus far, and have won both convincingly. If the game against Fulham was a ‘giveaway’, surely, that against Arsenal wasn’t. They’re a top side, and we defeated them convincingly. That’s 2 wins from 2 fixtures. Bayern Munich is next, and I do know we can hold our own against them.
It’s not yet Uhuru, and it’s just preseason, so we’ll need to keep working to improve. More signings should be made too because our rivals are not relenting. I once doubted our readiness to repeat last season’s feats this coming campaign, but with what I have seen, I have great confidence that we’ll go the distance. The lads look hungry, and in my experience, that is everything.
