True to Antonio Conte’s message, the Italian doesn’t need Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge anymore.
Chelsea have signed Costa’s replacement – Alvaro Morata, and Conte has admitted that there’s no way back for Costa.
He said: “I don’t like to talk about a player when they don’t stay here, the only things I can tell you is in January the Costa situation was very clear for the club, for him and for his agent, and the situation is closed.”
However, where will Costa ply his trade this season with about a month and one week left to the close of the summer transfer window?
Atletico Madrid seem his likely destination, but their inability to sign new players due to a transfer ban mean they can’t sign Costa until January. According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Atletico have identified Milan as the ideal go-between for the 28-year-old.
The report claims Atletico will sign Costa and then loan him to AC Milan who missed out on Morata, till the January transfer window.
Diego Simeone’s side wants to see Costa play between now and the New Year so he is match fit when he arrives.
Milan have been very active in the transfer window as they bid to get back to Serie A’s summit and would be interested in signing Costa on loan.
If this deal goes through, Costa will follow in Fernando Torres’ footsteps by joining AC Milan before returning to Atletico Madrid.
