It’s been awesome for Chelsea in the last two weeks as the purchases of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata looks to have sparked the club. The earlier slow pace of our transfer business had raised doubts among the supporters, and even Conte. But now all those bitter memories are now history. Chelsea’s preseason is underway with Conte rest assured his squad is taking shape for a second defining and challenging season.
The signing of Morata looks to have pleased Antonio Conte.
“I think for sure this is a good signing for us, he is a young player but has a lot of experience, he went to Juventus and Real Madrid,” said the Chelsea manager.
“He has a lot of experience and I think this is a good sign for us.
“We have added a fantastic striker, even at a young age he has won a lot already and we are looking forward to welcoming him to the squad.”
Glowing remarks from Conte and no wonder Morata had always desired to play for him. Much of this will lie on the Spanish striker’s adaptability level.
However, the preseason form of Michy Batshuayi is threatening the place of Morata. Four goals in 2 games is a fine start for a player who was peripheral for Chelsea last season. His heroics in scoring the goal that sealed our title win at West Brom last season seems to have rejuvenated the striker.
Bathsuayi has thrown the challenge to Morara to either step up or lose his starting spot. Whichever way, their healthy rivalry will serve Chelsea better to have two formidable strike force. I expect Morata to be first choice after our club record transfer fee was broken to secure his signing from Real Madrid. Ultimately, Batsman could also force Conte into a formation change that will utilise Chelsea’s firepower.
Let’s hope for the best, Cheers!
