Chelsea were in pole position to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton, but Manchester United hijacked the deal in the last minute as they were frustrated by Real Madrid in their pursuit of Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea are still in the market for a quality forward, as the Diego Costa situation hasn’t yet been resolved and Antonio Conte has been keen on Morata since last summer.

Will the Spaniard be the next option for Conte?

According to Sky Italia, the Blues have turned their attentions to Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata as they search for a replacement for the outgoing Diego Costa.

Jose Mourinho was interested in signing Morata from Real Madrid but switched attention to Lukaku after Real Madrid tried to milk as much as possible for a fringe player.

With Chelsea seeking to sign Morata now, will the Spanish giants be more lenient on the Blues? That’s another question for another day!
