Chelsea striker Diego Costa is yet to leave Stamford Bridge after falling out with Antonio Conte during the holiday.
Conte had told Costa that he won’t be needed at the club anymore, while Costa had revealed his desire to return to his former club Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has revealed that he’s optimistic of signing Costa this summer but wants to get the striker for a knockdown fee.
“[Costa] has a contract with another club, it’s a complicated matter,” Cerezo said.
“We are taking things with ease. As long as Chelsea do not agree to his transfer, Costa will be [a] Chelsea [player].
“Am I pessimistic or optimistic regarding the arrival of Costa? I am always optimistic.”
The transfer window ends on Thursday midnight.
