Chelsea signed Tiemoue Bakayako from Monaco during the summer for a fee of £40 million but the French international is yet to kick a ball for Chelsea due to injury.
Chelsea signed the midfielder with a knee injury he sustained at the end of last season, as Monaco went on to win the League One title and reach the semifinals of the Champions League.
The 23-year-old featured alongside Eden Hazard in a behind-closed-doors friendly with QPR on Thursday but while Hazard is far from match fitness, Bakayoko is said to be near full fitness.
With Chelsea short in midfield heading into the game, Bakayako has told the Chelsea manager he is willing to play against Spurs.
Conte has revealed that Bakayako could be in contention for Sunday’s clash against Tottenham.
“Bakayoko is improving very well,” Conte revealed in his press conference. ‘He is not at the top physical condition but I think he could be in contention for the game.
“The situation is not easy in this moment. At this moment I don’t have other midfielders available. I have to make a difficult decision, but Bakayoko could be in contention for the game against Tottenham, why not.”
