Chelsea have been in pursuit of Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for some weeks now, and there has been a breakthrough in the deal.
The 24-year-old turned down a new contract from Arsenal, and only has a year left. Arsenal would prefer to sell him now rather than lose him for free next summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain who recently turned down a reported £180,000-a-week contract to remain at Arsenal is now on the verge of joining Chelsea.
Chelsea have agreed a £35m fee with Arsenal for the wide man and a deal looks set to be sealed before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is due to report for England duty this week but is now expected to hold talks and thrash out personal terms in the next 24 hours.
Liverpool are also interested in the winger.
