Former Premier League striker, Alan Shearer, believes Chelsea could have got something against Burnley if Alvaro Morata had started the game.
“Very, very surprised. When they pay all that money for a centre-forward you expect him to start,” Shearer said about Antonio Conte’s decision not to start Morata.
“I know Batshuayi had a positive end to last season but he struggled today.
“He will get better but, when you go down to 10 men, you cannot afford to give the ball away sloppily.
“Kante and Fabregas were trying to find him but he made things far too easy for that Burnley back four.
“Now Morata comes on, and he immediately upset the back four.
“When he was on the pitch, it was the first time Chelsea asked questions of the Burnley defence.
“The movement from Morata for the goal was brilliant, a fantastic header.
“He scored his goal and, later, he got an assist.
“If Chelsea had played like that in the first-half they could have got something out of the game.”
