The Chelsea development squad have won their first game of the season after a hard-fought 2-0 victory against Derby County on Saturday.
Despite having the bulk of the possession in the first half, the Chelsea team couldn’t break through Derby’s solid defence.
The Chelsea team started the second-half in better fashion and the deadlock was finally broken just after the hour mark through a corner kick. Luke McCormick floated a ball into the front-post area and Reece James finished clinically from close range.
James was at hand to score the second goal for Chelsea in the 92nd minute when Substitute Miro Muheim advanced down the right and found the midfielder with a pass into the middle, with the 18-year-old latching on to the ball neatly before dispatching a composed finish into the back of the net for his first goal at this age group.
Chelsea had to put up a good defensive shift and at the end, the Blues won 2-0 to get their first three points of the season.
