Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been the talking point for the media since his penalty miss against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon’s Community Shield clash at the Wembley Stadium.
Courtois stepped up second for the Blues as the new ABBA format for penalty shootouts was trialled for the first time but played his penalty kick way over the bar, and has since been the talking point of the media since that game.
The Belgium international has revealed he’s saddened with the loss and the disappointment of missing his kick, but like a true champion, he took the positive of the negative incident.
“Very disappointed with the loss today,” he said on Instagram.
“I took the responsibility to shoot but unfortunately I missed.
“We will learn from our mistakes and take the good things of today with us!
“See you all at Stamford Bridge next week!”
