Chelsea are reportedly hopeful of signing Danny Drinkwater before the close of the transfer window despite Leicester City holding out for £40 million according to a report on Daily Mail.
The Blues have already had a bid for the 27-year-old midfielder rejected by Leicester City and reports claim Chelsea are set to offer £25 million plus add-ons.
Daily Mail claim Chelsea’s offer of £25 million plus add-ons would be rejected by Leicester City but an offer closer to £30 million plus add-ons could trigger a breakthrough.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is eager to add a midfielder to the squad following the sale of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United and Drinkwater is on the list of midfield targets as well as Renato Sanches of Bayern Munich, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain of Arsenal and Everton’s Ross Barkley.
