Chelsea and Arsenal will start the new season with a Community Shield battle at the Wembley Stadium today, as both teams renew their rivalry to be London’s king.
Chelsea will set a new record in the new Wembley Stadium by the time the game kicks off.
This will be Chelsea’s 17th match at Wembley Stadium since it reopened in 2007, and it will be a record for a club. Manchester United have made 16 appearances on this ground, but Chelsea will overtake them by the time the players step on the pitch this afternoon.
They have been victorious in 10 of their 16 appearances at the stadium since it was rebuilt (including one penalty shootout triumph).
This just shows how successful the club has been since Roman Abramovich took over in 2003.
