Chelsea U18 have vowed to continue from where they kicked off last season with a 2-0 victory against Aston Villa in their season opener.

Jody Morris set the team up in a 4-4-2 diamond shape with the players listed below:

Chelsea U18: Marcin Bulka; Marcel Lavinier, Marc Guehi, Jack Wakely, Jon Panzo; Conor Gallagher (c), Tariq Uwakwe, Tino Anjorin, George McEachran; Charlie Brown, Martell Taylor-Crossdale

A competitive first-half ended goalless but the Chelsea youngsters took the bull by the horn and stormed the second-half with two well taken goals as Charlie Brown and George McEachran netted shortly after the break to seal the points on the opening weekend of the season.

Morris’ team talk at half-time had a good effect on the lads and the introduction of Tariq Lamptey at full-back just as the second half began helped add energy down the right and it was the 16-year-old felled on the wing that led to the opening goal.

McEachran swung the ball towards Anjorin at the far post and the midfielder’s hooked pass back into the six-yard was headed inside the post by the alert Brown.

Six minutes later McEachran moved from provider to finisher as the 16-year-old picked up possession 25 yards out and spotted goalkeeper Boucher’s poor positioning off-centre on his line and delivered a nice finish to seal the victory for Chelsea.

Chelsea U18 return to league action next weekend with a home game against Reading.
