Shortly after the referee showed Chelsea winger Pedro Rodriguez a red card in the Community Shield clash at Wembley Stadium, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was seen talking with Bob Madley.
The Italian has revealed what their conversation was all about, as he admitted he asked the centre referee why he sent Pedro off and gave Willian a yellow card for diving.
Conte was seen speaking with the referee following Pedro’s red card but he said it was pointless arguing his case.
“He tried to explain to me why he had made this decision but there wasn’t time,” said the Chelsea manager.
“I wanted to ask him why there wasn’t a penalty and the yellow card for Willian but we would be speaking until 9 o’clock.
“We must accept his decisions but for the second time there’s a controversial decision against us.”
