Nemanja Matic was sold to Manchester United in a £40m move from Chelsea and Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed that it wasn’t his decision but that of the board.
Chelsea fans were unhappy that Chelsea had to sell a midfielder in the calibre of Matic to a title rival.
A similar situation happened two seasons ago when Jose Mourinho was furious as Petr Cech was granted a move to Arsenal out of goodwill from Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich even though he kicked against it.
“You have to ask the club about this,” said Conte when asked why Matic was sold to a rival club.
Conte also admitted that the club will need to sign new players as his squad is thin.
