Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater has handed in a transfer request to leave the Foxes after strong interest from Chelsea.
Antonio Conte is keen on strengthening the squad before the close of the summer transfer window, and Drinkwater seems to be a priority for the Chelsea boss.
The 27-year-old was a key figure alongside N’Golo Kante as Leicester City marched on to win the Premier League title for the first time in their history in 2016.
And according to reports from Sky Sports, Drinkwater has handed in an official request to leave the King Power Stadium in order to link up with his former team-mate St Chelsea.
After selling Nathaniel Chalobah and Nemanja Matic, Chelsea have added Tiemoue Bakayoko to the squad this summer and will need the addition of Drinkwater to boost the strength in depth, especially after the departure of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United.
