Former Premier League referee, Mark Clattenburg, believes Gary Cahill was unfortunate to see red against Burnley during Chelsea’s embarrassing 3-2 defeat to the Clarets on Saturday.

“I think Gary Cahill is very unlucky,” Clattenburg said on BT Sport.

“He’s dribbling with the ball and he’s lunged but there is very little impact on the defender’s leg.

“You can clearly see the studs didn’t impact on the defender’s leg so he’s very unlucky.

“And I think a yellow card would have been a better solution.”
