Eden Hazard was expected to boost his match fitness with the development squad as he continues his rehabilitation process to gain match fitness ahead of Chelsea’s fixtures in September.
Hazard started the game and lasted 75 minutes as the young Chelsea squad were ultimately beaten at Aldershot by Everton 3-0 in the Premier League 2.
An own goal from Joseph Colley in the 18th minute started the woes for Chelsea, and second-half strikes from Beni Baningime and Oumar Niasse did the damage to the hosts.
Despite the defeat, Hazard was his usual lively self and showed his usual electric pace and runs for the young Blues but it was to no avail.
The development squad will return to PL2 action after the international break with a home game against Sunderland on Saturday 9 September.
