N’Golo Kante has been a revelation since coming to the Premier League in 2015 and he has been key for two teams who went on to win the league in the last two seasons.

Despite all of Kante’s remarkable traits, Chelsea and France legend Claude Makelele believes Kante needs to change his game.

Makelele told Goal: “He is a good player. It is difficult to find some who loves running for everything like him. He plays for his partners. He is unbelievable. He is also clever and very serious. Around him, he has good people to help him to be a great player.

“It might be difficult for him when he gets older. He can’t run like that for 90 minutes. I think he will one day need to change the way he plays. He could use his intelligence even more, be selective about his runs.

“It is important for him to understand to conserve his energy. He is still young, when he is older, he will understand how to change the way that he plays.”

Kante has replied Makelele saying he’s willing to always improve but won’t have to do everything everyone says.

Kante said: “I think it’s good to listen to the advice of this type of player like Makelele, I need to listen and try to give my best.

“But I cannot say I want to do what everyone wants me to do, but it’s good to listen to the advice of players like him and to the staff and manager at Chelsea.

“I want to improve and I’m doing my best to improve so I listen and try to do it. If I do it, okay, but [I try] not to put too much pressure on it.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
