Chelsea have a number of quality players out on loan this season, and four of those players are in the Premier League.
On Saturday, Kurt Zouma helped Stoke City defeat Arsenal 1-0 at home, and the Chelsea defender played a good game on the right-hand side of a back three.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek impressed as well in Crystal Palace’s midfield, although his team lost 1-0, but he was singled out for praise.
Tammy Abraham played 82 minutes for Swansea City, as the Swans suffered a 4-0 defeat against Manchester United. Not a bad game from Abraham who linked up well with Jordan Ayew.
Kasey Palmer was on the winning side as he came in the 72nd minute of Huddersfield’s first home win in the Premier League – a 1-0 victory over Newcastle.
There were two rounds of fixtures in the Championship over the past week and it was a mixed few days for Jamal Blackman between the posts for Sheffield United. He followed up a 2-0 midweek defeat at leaders Cardiff City with a clean sheet in the Blades’ first win of the season against Barnsley, for whom Ike Ugbo was a half-time substitute.
Ola Aina and Michael Hector played both of Hull City’s matches as the Tigers lost 3-2 at home to Wolves and 2-1 away at QPR, although Hector came close to earning a share of the spoils at Loftus Road when his late header was cleared off the line.
Lewis Baker who spent the last two seasons on loan in the Dutch League was a second-half substitute in both of Middlesbrough’s matches this week as they defeated Burton before losing at Nottingham Forest.
Sadly, Lucas Piazon will be away for a long time after he suffered a fracture dislocation to his right ankle in Fulham’s midweek draw against Leeds United and a bad week for the Whites got even worse with 1-0 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, a game in which Tomas Kalas played the full 90 minutes after a recent suspension.
In the Netherlands, Marco van Ginkel scored the second goal in PSV’s big away win at Breda in a 4-1 win. Todd Kane played his second game for Groningen, coming on midway through the second half of their 3-1 away defeat at Ajax. Prior to that, Fankaty Dabo started for Vitesse Arnhem in their 3-1 win at Roda JC while Charlie Colkett and Matt Miazga brought on as second-half substitutes.
Mario Pasalic played 73 minutes of a seven-goal thriller in a Moscow derby, departing with Spartak drawing 2-2 with Lokomotiv before they fell to a 4-3 defeat.
