Chelsea had a shaky start to the season after a 3-2 home defeat to Burnley last weekend with the Blues going 3-0 down at half-time.

Manchester United and Manchester City have been named by pundits as the favourites for the Premier League title this season, but Chelsea boss Antonio Conte isn’t getting carried away.

The Chelsea manager has told his team to focus on themselves, as the same scenario happened last season with many not tipping Chelsea to win the league.

“We have to be focused on ourselves, it is very important,” Conte said.

“We know very well other teams have improved. These team [Manchester clubs] was very strong last season and invested a lot last season, and invested a lot this season.

“For us it is important to look at ourselves to work, it does not matter if we are not favourites, it was the same last season. We are trying to improve our team and squad, and we are trying to do our best in the transfer market. I am very happy when I see this type of game, not just the football, but the spirit, the heart, the desire, I must be satisfied because my players gave everything today.

“They did the same last season. Maybe not the best start against Burnley, but even in the second half they showed me a great spirit to change the final result and we scored two goals with ten men and nine men. There are great difficulties in this season, but the only way we can get through this difficulty is to work.”
