Chelsea are lacking in depth heading into the new season and Chelsea manager has on two separate occasions revealed his desire to add to the Chelsea squad.
It seems the Italian’s wish will be granted before the end of the summer as The Telegraph’s Matt Law claim Conte has been reassured that Chelsea will sign at least three more new players to add to his squad by the end of the transfer window with the club ready to rival Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier and step up their interest in Virgil van Dijk.
So far Chelsea have spent £127.7m this summer on four new signings – Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and free signing Willy Caballero, but have also seen Nemanja Matic, Nathan Ake, Nathaniel Chalobah, Asmir Begovic and John Terry depart the club, with Diego Costa also being banished.
The sale of these players has caused the Chelsea squad to be weakened and Conte is in dire need of new signings.
Speaking after the penalty shootout defeat to Arsenal, Conte said: “I have replied to this question [about new players]. I hope in the future to have a different question.
“My reply is always the same, otherwise it means I was telling you a lie.”
