Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing a wing-back for the 2017/18 campaign and according to Spanish publication Don Balon, the Blues are keen on Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto – and it’s claimed Chelsea are willing to pay his £37.5m release clause.
However, after losing out to Real Madrid in the Super Cup, Don Balon have now reported that Barcelona star Lionel Messi is angry with the current setup and has told the club not to sell any first team player, after losing Neymar to PSG for a world record fee.
The report claims Messi has informed Ernesto Valverde that the squad cannot be weakened any further.
With Alex Sandro and Sergi Roberto out of Chelsea’s reach, the Blues must have to seek other wing-back targets if they must strengthen that area before the close of the transfer window.
