Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has just one year left on his Arsenal contract and the 24-year-old is refusing to sign a new Arsenal contract amid reports linking him with a move to Chelsea.
While urging Oxlade-Chamberlain to be loyal to Arsenal, Arsene Wenger also confirmed the Gunners have received a bid for the 24-year-old. Various reports had claimed Chelsea have submitted a bid for Oxlade-Chamberlain and Wenger might have just confirmed the reports.
“I want Alex to stay at the club and be one of the big players of the future of the club, he’s one of the players the team has to be built around in future,” Wenger said.
“I want him to commit to the club and be one of the carriers of this team.”
Wenger confirmed a bid for the 24-year-old when he admitted he knows of every bid Arsenal have received.
“I know of every bid we have, of course, but I think it’s best to focus on Sunday’s game,” Wenger added.
“We invested a lot of time and money and confidence in players like Chamberlain and for me he has a responsibility to the club. I want to keep my best players – my only target is to keep everyone on board. I hope he commits.”
