Match day 3 of the EPL is here this weekend. Chelsea will be facing another potentially tricky tie against a dangerous opponent. Our first game was against Burnley. It ended in a forgettable defeat, then, came Tottenham, and against all odds, we triumphed. Our next will be just as tough as the last; at least, on paper.

On Sunday we welcome Everton at Stamford Bridge. Judging by the history of this fixture, we should get the upper hand, and perhaps, win convincingly, however form is the more important factor, and Everton seem to be in a good position at the moment. Their last game was against Manchester City, and they were able to manage a draw. They can cause us serious problems, so we need to be ready.

The last time they beat us was in the 2015/16 season when we had a disastrous outing, but we did the double over them last season. It will not be an easy tie, but we seem primed to continue from where we left off vs Tottenham. It is the only way to keep up pressure on current leaders, Man United. Anything short of a win might cost us in the title race this season. We’re already 3 points adrift of the current leaders, we cannot afford any more slip ups.

If we do emerge victorious from that tie, it wouldn’t only reflect on our standing in the race, it would also improve on the confidence of the team. There’s talk of a crisis at Stamford Bridge, last weekend’s victory dispelled that. Winning 2 games on the bounce would send a clear message to the rest of the league.

What makes him perfect for this blog? He lives for Chelsea FC, in fact, I heard he sat in the middle of a road, and refused to go home after that bitter loss to Barcelona in 2009. Haha.
