Chelsea sold Nemanja Matic to Manchester United during the summer transfer window and Tiemoue Bakayako is the signing that’s replacing the Serbian.
Bakayako joined Chelsea with an injury to his knee that kept him out of pre-season action, but the 23-year-old has returned back to fitness and is showing that he has the qualities to excel in central midfield for Chelsea.
He also revealed that he doesn’t feel any pressure in replacing Matic.
Asked whether he feels pressure to replace title-winner Matic, Bakayoko told the Daily Mail: “I don’t feel that at all.
“I did have the chance to see him [Matic] playing when I first came here and we spoke a lot together, and got on very well.
“He wished me all the best, just as I wished him all the best at Manchester United. I have come here to follow my own path, and write my own story.”
He has already scored his first goal for the club, putting in one against Qarabag in the Champions League.
