According to reports on The Sun, Chelsea and Premier League rivals Tottenham failed with bids for PSG and Belgium right-back Thomas Meunier.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte hoped to add 25-year-old Meunier to the squad as cover for Victor Moses while Tottenham wanted the Belgium right-back to replace Kyle Walker, who left for Manchester City in a £50million deal.
The Sun claim PSG refused to sell Meunier despite signing Dani Alves because they want two top-class player for every position.
A source close to Meunier told The Sun: “Thomas was at the top of both Chelsea and Tottenham‘s wish lists.
“But PSG refused to let him go.”
Chelsea signed Torino’s Italy defender Davide Zappacosta for £25million on deadline day while Tottenham signed PSG’s third-choice right-back Serge Aurier after both clubs failed with bids for Meunier.
