According to a report on the Telegraph, the Chelsea board are confident they have equipped Antonio Conte with a squad capable of fighting for titles despite missing out on targets Conte wanted.
Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta all joined Chelsea this summer and despite Chelsea missing out on Alex Sandro, Virgil van Dijk and Romelu Lukaku, the Chelsea board are reportedly confident Conte has a team that can fight for Premier League and Champions League glory.
Conte is reportedly happy with the signings Chelsea have made this summer but the report claims Conte wanted eight signings with Alex Sandro and Virgil van Dijk as his top two targets.
Conte reportedly wanted to build a new squad around Thibaut Courtois, N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard that he felt would be capable of winning the Champions League. Conte is yet to make it past the quarter-final stage in the Champions League and the Italian is reportedly eager to improve on that record.
